REGIONAL MINISTER PAYS WORKING VISIT TO HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On Wednesday 26th January   2022, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa climaxed his six day tour of all MMDAs in the Volta Region at Ho West District Assembly. The Minister’s tour aim at interacting with staff as well as to inspect some developmental projects in the district.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa in his address commended the staff for their good work and support to the DCE to ensure development of the District. He called on staff to desist from lateness to work and absenteeism as these behaviours derails the productivity of the Assembly.

On functionality of the sub structures, the Regional Minister urged the Assembly to ensure that all the Sub structures are functioning effectively in order to boost revenue mobilization and local governance. He added that when the substructures are strong the Assembly is strong but when the substructures are weak the Assembly becomes weak in the execution of developmental projects. He encouraged all role players to put their heads together and come out with effective strategies that will help in the improvement of Internally Generated Fund of the Assembly.

The Hon. Regional Minister also appealed to the Assembly to embark on Staff Housing Scheme that will help provide accommodation for staff and encourage them to stay in the district

Hon. Letsa disclosed that the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) was adjudged first in the country in the 2020 performance contract assessment. However, he was not happy about the positions of some MMDAs in the league table and therefore challenged all the Assemblies in the Region, that come 2021 Performance contract Assessment at least 10 of the Assemblies should be among the best 50 in the country.

He advised all to play their part to achieve the highest level in the performance contract assessment and also have mutual respect for each other so that together staff can work as a team to achieve common goals and aspirations of the Assembly.

The District Chief Executive of Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau in his welcome address disclosed that the Assembly passed all the five DEPAT Assessment that was done during his administration. He thanked staff for their commitment and hard work to ensure these successes.

He took the opportunity to outline some projects and initiatives that have been done in the district. Among them include the National Health Insurance Office, District Fire Station, 1 No. 2-Unit Bed room Apartment for Heads of Department, Animal pound, One Paramountcy One Stool Farm, One Electoral Area One Nursery, Rearing for jobs among less privilege, DCE’s plating of tress to save water bodies and DCE’s Peer learning model for Basic Schools and Senior High Schools which will be roll out this year.

Hon. Apau again said that the Assembly was proactive in the management of security as well as in the efficient use of resources to bring development to the people. The DCE promised that all the advice made by the Regional Minister will be adhered to.

Ms Diana Adzaku, a NABCO Trainee appealed to the Regioal Minister to help employ NABCO Trainees with the Assembly.

Present at the event was the Volta Regional Minister, Regional Economic Planning Officer, Dean of MMDCEs and DCE for Afadjato South, Regional Security Coordinator, Acting Coordinating Director-VRCC, Regional Human Resource Manager, Acting Director-NADMO, Ho West District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Heads of Department, Staff of the Assembly Security Personnel’s, Media and Party faithfuls.
