HO WEST DCE PLANTS TREES TO MARK THE GREEN GHANA DAY IN THE DISTRICT

The District Chief Executive for Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau in collaboration with the Forestry Commission on Friday 10th June, 2022 led a team to plant trees at Dzolo and Kpedze Senior High Schools to mark the Green Ghana Day in the District.

Hon. Apau addressing the students indicated that the Green Ghana Day is a very important project in the country and therefore called on all to support the government to plant more trees to green Ghana whiles mitigating climate change, beautifying our environment and enhancing livelihood.

The Hon. DCE further stated that the introduction of the One Student One Tree on campus initiative is to encourage students to sustain and maintain the seedlings planted. He advised students to maintain the seedlings because if we plant so much trees and we do not maintain them, then we have not done anything.

He also took the opportunity to mention the DCE’s Garden Initiative in Secondary Schools which will commencement in Abutia Secondary Technical and Kpedze Senior High Schools in the next two weeks whiles other schools will benefit next year.

The District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Seth Asuo also carried out field inspections at ABUSTECH and AWUSCO towards the Green Ghana Day Celebration.

The headmasters of the two schools were very grateful for the tree planting exercise and promised to maintain them as a remembrance of the day.

More than 10,000 seedlings including teak, acacia, mahogany, afram among others were distributed to Hon. Assembly Members, Churches, Schools, Communities and individuals for onward planting.

Accompanying the DCE were the District Coordinating Director, the Assistant District Manager of Forestry Commission, Heads of Department and some staff of the Assembly.
