GHANA ARMED FORCES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE STUDENTS VISIT HO WEST DISTRICT

Students from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College on Tuesday, 20th September 2022 visited Ho West District Assembly as part of their study tour to abreast themselves with some thematic areas of study.

The team comprises five (5) directing staff and thirty-one (31) students. Some of the students were from other African countries such as Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Gambia.

The District Chief Executive who doubles as the chairman for DISEC, Security Services, Heads of Departments and Units and other dignitaries received the team at the District Assembly Hall.

In his welcome address, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau was very appreciative of the visit and indicated that such interaction is good for the socio-economic development of the district. He said the district is endowed with tourism potentials that can be tapped by investors and also outline some security challenges in the district.

Colonel Lloyd Atror, the leader of the team disclosed that the study tour is to enable the students conduct their research in areas such as tourism, waste management, Human Trafficing, Child Abuse and security related issues of the district. He said this would help the students have knowledge about the area of study as well as build their capacity to enhance their work.

The District Physical Planning Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Doh, the District Police Commander, DSP Maya  and ASI Emmanuel Laryea Okley of Ghana Immigration Service gave presentations on the thematic areas which include; Tourism, Waste Management, Child Abuse, Human Trafficing and security situations in the district.

Colonel Lloyd Atror presented a plague and other surveniors to the District Chief Executive and District Coordinating Director as a show of their appreciation for the warm reception.

Officers were given the opportunity to ask questions and answers were provided by the DCE, Heads of Department and Heads of Security Services.

Management of the Assembly and the team later visited Dodome Tsikor to educate the students on the culture of the area. They were taken through how to install a Chief, the Asafo dance, Borborbor and Dipo rites.

The Chief of the area Togbe Sakpanyrah V,  Elders and the entire community were grateful for the visit and stated that visits of such nature should be encouraged to foster peaceful cohesion.
