The District Chief Executive of Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau on Wednesday 26th October, 2022 engaged the Awudome Bame community when Osbrain Foundation in partnership with the Avenui Electoral Area organized a community engagement series at Awudome Bame. The community engagement seeks to empower teenage mothers.
The Hon. DCE, in his address, encouraged the community to rope unto the DCE Self-learning model and other educational initiatives since those are the things that will keep the pupils from idealness.
He also mentioned the successes chalked in the education sector which include the District producing the best BECE graduate in Volta Region, Kpedze Senior High School excellent performance in the third Renewable Energy Challenge and improvement of performance of schools in the District.
Hon Apau advised the youth to take the teachings at the engagement serious as it will go a long way to help them in the future.
The DCE outlined some development projects in the area which include the Dzolokpuita-Bame road,the erection of telecommunication mast to improve communication network, provision of furniture among others.
Mrs Thywill Kpe, Regional Director, Department of Gender in his address educated the residents on the causes of teenage pregnancy among school girls, the effect of early/teenage pregnancy on students, prevention of teenage pregnancy and empowering teenage mothers by giving them skills training or an opportunity to go back to school. The residents were also educated on breast cancer and family planning from the Ghana Health Service.
