HO WEST DCE ENGAGES DISTRICT EXECUTIVES OF DISTILLERS AND RETAILERS’ ASSOCIATION

On Wednesday, 29th March 2023, the Ho West District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau has engaged the District Executives of Distillers and Retailers Association. The purpose of the engagement was to discuss issues confronting the Association and to find possible solutions.

The President of the Association, Mr. Edwin Mottey, informed that the Association used to represent and assist the Assembly to collect revenue from their members but for some time that partnership has ceased thereby making some not to pay the requisite revenue to the Assembly. For this reason, he urged the Assembly to rejuvenate that partnership so that the Association can mobilize revenue for the Assembly.

Mr. Mottey revealed that supervision of their members is one of the challenges confronting the Association and due to that some members have taken undue advantage to using unacceptable means of distilling Akpeteshie and tapping of palm wine which have major effect on consumers health. He also called on the Assembly to help the Association clamp down on these people to help sanitize the system.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau said he will liaise with management  to further deliberate on some of the issues raised. He advised the Executives to re-strengthen the Association in the District so that they can efficiently coordinate and direct activities.

Hon. Apau also expressed the Assembly’s support to the Association to make sure that their work is effective in the District.
