NATIONAL SECURITY HANDS OVER A MECHANIZED BOREHOLE AT DODOME AWUIASO

On Friday 26th May, 2023, the National Security in collaboration with Ho West District Assembly has handed over a Drilled and Mechanized Borehole Facility and rehabilitated 3No. Boreholes as well as sensitized community members on the “See Something, Say Something” initiative at Dodome Awuiasu.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Director of Counter Terrorism, Mr. Daniel Osei Bonsu expressed his gratitude to the community for their cooperation in the construction of the Borehole. He advised the community members that whiles government works on addressing their problems, the citizenry should also work closely with government not to harbour people who threatens the security of the country.

The District Chief Executive of Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau in his statement said, the construction of the mechanized borehole forms part of addressing the inadequate water supply in the community. He called for collective efforts among community members to ensure that they exhibit good maintenance culture.

He encouraged the Community Water Management Committee (CWMC) to be proactive to perform its functions and institute strategies to manage the facility. He also urged the community to always report challenges confronting them to the District Assembly for necessary actions to be taken.

Meanwhile, the Volta Regional Liason Officer for National Security, Mr. Appiah Apenteng also noted that government is always ready to partner with communities to address security related issues that may occur in the communities and country at large. He therefore, urged everyone to be cooperative, understanding and be assured that government is ready to work with communities for peace to prevail in the country.

On her part, the Officer In-Charge of “See Something, Say Something” Campaign, Mrs. Akosua Sekyere explained that the campaign dubbed “See Something, Say Something” was launched by the government through the National Security Ministry to improve citizens participation in safeguarding the peace and security of the country. She urged everyone to be more vigilant and cautious since addressing security issues is a shared responsibility.

Mrs. Sekyere explained that the campaign was not launched to cause fear and panic but to encourage citizens to be proactive of any security related issues happening in and around their community. She said as part of the campaign, citizens are urged to call the toll free number 999 to alert the National Security on any suspicious activities and/or individuals in their community. She said, this will enable the government deploy the right intervention(s) to address the situation.

The Chief of Dodome Awuiasu, Togbe Blasu II expressed his appreciation on behalf of the community for the intervention. He added that strategies needed for the sustainability of the facility will be instituted.

Officers of the National Security were joined by the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Some Heads of Department/Units, the Media, Hon Assembly Members, Chiefs and people of Dodome Awuiasu to commission the Mechanized Borehole for use.
