The Ho West District Assembly, through the Human Resource Department, has organized a one-day in-house orientation workshop for newly recruited staff of the Local Government Service.
Speaking at the opening of the orientation held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the District Assembly Hall, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor, stated that the orientation has become necessary as part of management’s decision to train newly recruited staff on their work duties, skills, and knowledge needed to fulfill their mandate.
The DCD added that once every quarter, an identified group will be taken through the Scheme of Service, Local Government Protocols, and Code of Conduct that will guide them in their day-to-day activities, as well as improve the service delivery standards of the Local Government Service. He took the opportunity to welcome all the newly recruited staff into the Service.
The District Chief Executive of the Ho West District, Honorable Ernest Victor Apau, welcomed the staff and urged them to give their best in the discharge of their roles. He also urged them to be client-focused, work as a team, exhibit professionalism in the execution of their duties, and abide by the code of conduct.
The Human Resource Manager, Mr. Bismark Von Golloh, urged the participants to take the training seriously, as it will help them effectively perform their duties.
Mr. Bismark Von Golloh, the Head of Human Resources, Mr. Ebenezer Nkrumah, Head of the Planning Unit, and Madam Beatrice Boateng, Assistant Director I, facilitated the training workshop.
Participants were taken through the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936), Local Government Service Protocols and Service Delivery Standards, Scheme of Service, Structure of the Local Government Service, Conditions of Service, Code of Conduct, and Performance Appraisal, among others.
A total of twenty-one (21) staff participated in the orientation workshop. They were from the Budget Unit, Human Resource Department, Planning Unit, Internal Audit Unit, Works Department, Records Unit, and Security Sections of the Assembly.
Heads of Departments/Units also presented on their Departments/Units’ core mandates as stipulated by the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936) to enable participants to understand and appreciate how they operate.
Present at the workshop were the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments/Units, and newly recruited staff.
