On Wednesday, July 11th, 2023, a six member delegation from Kekeli Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), paid a courtesy call on the Ho West District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, at his office.
The delegation, led by Mr. Bradford Tay, said the purpose of their visit was to formally introduce the Foundation to the management of the District Assembly and to also seek support for improving the quality of education and making it inclusive for all children, particularly those with developmental disabilities.
According to him, an all-inclusive model school is being built by the foundation to redefine education to meet the needs of both children with and without disabilities to have access to quality education.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with Hon. DCE regarding various concerns related to health, education, accessibility, and the challenges faced by persons living with disabilities in the district.
Expressing his gratitude, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, thanked the Kekeli Foundation for their visit and emphasized that supporting persons with disabilities in participating fully in society is a prority to the Assembly. He said the Assembly will work together with the Foundation to address the needs of disabilities in the district.
Kekeli Foundation focuses on working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities. They work to create self-advocacy groups to help young people recognise their rights, establish parent self-help groups to encourage greater involvement of disabled children in their communities and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities within the education system and society as a whole.
