VOLTA REGIONAL CHIEF DIRECTOR/RCD VISITS HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On Monday, 24th July 2023, the Chief Director (RCD)for Volta Region, Mr. Augustus K. Awity visited the Ho West District Assembly to interact with the management and staff of the Assembly. The visit formed part of efforts by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to enhance the delivery of quality services across the various Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region.

The Chief Director accompanied by the Volta Regional Human Resource Manager were welcomed by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor and management of the Assembly.

Addressing staff, the Chief Director expressed concern about staff attendance and attitude towards work. He stressed the importance of employees taking their responsibilities seriously and maintaining professionalism in their conduct. Additionally, he encouraged staff to foster a sense of teamwork, cooperation and mutual support in the execution of the Assembly’s mandate.

The Chief Director stressed the importance of maintaining confidentiality in the workplace and urged staff to refrain from leaking sensitive information. He also urged the Assembly to take the necessary steps to enhance the operationalization of sub-structures within the district, in order to deepen the local government decentralisation process.

Furthermore, the Chief Director advised staff to take the staff Performance Appraisal process seriously, as the outcomes of these appraisals will determine their eligibility for promotions.

An open forum was conducted following the Chief Director’s address, providing staff with the opportunity to ask questions. This interactive session ensured open communication and allowed the Chief Director to gain insights into the challenges faced by employees.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor, thanked the Chief Director for the visit and indicated the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring effective and efficient service delivery to the public.

Mr. Kporngor disclosed that the Assembly had provided office equipment and furniture to the eight (8) Town and Area Councils, aimed at strengthening the substructures. Additionally, staff have been assigned to support the effective functioning of these councils.

The Ho West Health Directorate conducted a health screening session for staff members, focusing on promoting good health and well-being among employees.

Representatives from the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Peki Branch, also educated the staff on the bank’s insurance policies and banking products available at GCB. This initiative aimed to improve the financial knowledge and access to banking services for staff.
