HO WEST DCE COMMISSIONS TWO PROJECTS

The District Chief Executive for Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, commissioned a six (6) unit Teachers’ Quarters with ancillary facilities at Abutia Teti D/A Primary and Dededo D/A Basic School on Wednesday, 17th January 2024. These projects were funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

Hon. Victor Ernest Apau in his address at the commissioning of the projects, emphasized government’s commitment to providing infrastructure to enhance quality education in the district. He added that the District Assembly is working tirelessly to increase the number of infrastructures as well as complete major projects in the District. He noted that having teachers on campus will make them punctual, discipline as well as aid in monitoring students’ academic progress and behavior, thereby fostering a supportive environment for academic and social growth.

Hon. Apau urged the students to take the DCE learning model and peer learning model seriously when it is introduced in their school, stating that it would provide them with learning opportunities, peer support, and enhance interactive and engaging educational experiences for improved academic performance.

Hon. Elizabeth Ohene, a former Minister of State for Tertiary Education, who was present at the commissioning of the Abutia Teti project encouraged the school to preserve the facility for longevity, stressing the importance of responsible stewardship.

The District Education Directorate, together with traditional leaders of Abutia Teti, Abutia Agove, Abutia Kloe, and Dededo, expressed gratitude for the projects. They assured that the facilities would be properly maintained and utilized. They also called on all stakeholders to unite and support Teachers to improve BECE in the district.

Additionally, they appealed to the Assembly for furniture, computers, modern toilets, and a library to further enhance teaching and learning in the communities.

Among the personalities who graced the occasion were the District Chief Executive, Hon. Elizabeth Ohene, Traditional leaders, Member of Parliament Representative, District Education Directorate, Headmasters, Teachers, Hon. Assembly Members elect for the Electoral areas, staff of the Assembly, PTA, the Media, project project consultant, project contractors and students.
