HO WEST DCE ATTENDS ABUTIA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

On Friday, April 26th, 2024, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ho West, Honorable Ernest Victor Apau, attended the maiden meeting of the Abutia Traditional Council held in Abutia Teti. The meeting served as a platform for the DCE to engage traditional leaders and discuss various developmental initiatives affecting the district.

The DCE outlined several development projects ongoing in the area and also addressed the concerns surrounding the proposed lithium mining operations in the area. He detailed the steps being taken by the Assembly to ensure that mining activities would be conducted legally and ethically. He emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing illegal mining practices and ensuring environmental sustainability.

The Hon. DCE also reassured the council that government would not authorize the transfer of land from Abutia to North Tongu. He urged the chiefs and the people of Abutia to remain patient while the government processes concerning the aforementioned issues are being thoroughly handled. He stressed the importance of trust in the government’s procedures and legal frameworks.
