HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS DISTRICT PLANNING AND COORDINATING UNIT (DPCU) COMMITTEE MEETING

The District Planning and Coordinating Unit (DPCU) Committee of Ho West District Assembly held its Second Quarter Meeting for the year on Wednesday, 26th June 2024, at the District Assembly Hall.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, welcomed members to the meeting. He highlighted the importance of effective planning and coordination in achieving the district’s development goals. He expressed satisfaction with the staff training on the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), emphasizing the importance of data access in enhancing the district’s development planning and poverty reduction strategies. He also called for collective collaboration among stakeholders to foster team spirit and maintain the district’s good reputation and enviable records over the years.

The District Coordinating Director urged the Members to take the training seriously as it would contribute to more effective and targeted interventions, ultimately improving the well-being of communities in the district. He also introduced the new Physical Planning Officer, Mr. Nii Amarh Amartey, and the Head of Works Department, Engineer Harrison Ahorkonu to the members.

The meeting reviewed the minutes of previous meetings, made corrections, and adopted the minutes as a working document of the Assembly.

Departments/Units made presentations on their activities, challenges, and progress in the First Quarter of 2024.

Mrs. Linda Abaye, the Head of Statistics, took Members through understanding the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), the importance of MPI approaches to poverty measurement, interpreting MPI reports and data, dimensions and indicators, and applying MPI in development planning and poverty reduction strategies.

Mr. Ebenezer Nkrumah, the District Planning Officer, also guided members on how to access data on the Statsbank online platform developed by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

He further led the house to review the 2024 Annual Action Plan (AAP) and updated the Members on the progress made in projects/Programmes implementation.
