The Ho West District Assembly in collaboration with the District Education Directorate have observed ” My First Day at School” at Kpedze Todze on Tuesday 18th January, 2022. The purpose for the celebration was to welcome pupils attending school for the first time and those going to Basic one.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau in his address reiterated government commitment to education in the district. He stated that education plays a vital role in the development of a child, therefore parents should not relent in their efforts to ensure their children get quality education that will help them to succeed in the future.
Hon Apau disclosed that the DCE’s educational initiatives will be roll out this year to encourage pupils to learn on their own. He further urged all schools in the district to form Environmental and Sanitation Clubs to promote cleanliness and beautification of school environment.
For her part, Mrs Celestine S.A Korsi-Agordo the District Director of Education noted that any child that has reached the age of four years should be admitted in school. She admonished parents and guardians to always provide their children basic needs in order to encourage them to learn and become good future leaders.
In all 145 kindergaten pupils and 166 basic one pupils made up of Kpedze Todze B.A Primary, Kpedze Sreme B.A Primary, Awlime E.P Primary, Rashadiyya Islamic Primary, Honuta Aflakpe B.A Primary, Anoe E.P Primary and Awlime Primary was recorded this academic year.
Exercise books, sharpeners, pencils, crayons, biscuits among others were distributed to the pupils.
Present at the meeting were the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, District Director of Education, Chiefs and Elders, Hon Assembly Members, Heads of Department, Teachers, Parents, Guardians and Pupils.
