HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY DISBURSES ITEMS TO PWDS.

On Friday, 11th February 2022, the Ho West District Assembly disbursed items and cash to Persons Living with Disabilities in the District.

In all, thirty-one (31) beneficiaries made of seventeen (17) males and fourteen (14) females were given items such as deep freezer, industrial sewing machine, cassava grinding machine, foot sewing machine, whiles others were given educational support, medical support and cash to improve their businesses and farming activities.

In his opening remarks, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau disclosed that Government   increased the share of the District Assemblies Common Fund from two percent to three percent in order to capture more PWDs and empower them to be economically dependent to improve their standard of living.

Hon. Apau advised the care givers as well as the beneficiaries not to keep the items in their rooms or sell it but to use it to generate income to enhance their livelihood so as to be economically independent.  He also entreated all to treat PWDs with respect and love as we are all one.

The District Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Roland Kumfo advised the beneficiaries to use the items for its intended purpose to help improve their economic status as well as provide jobs for others in their community. He added that the department will carry out monitoring exercises to ascertain their progress. Mr. Akakpo Vincent on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the government for the support and promised to put the items to good use.
