On Sunday 17th July 2022, the District Chief Executive for Ho West, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau has commended the Ho West Queen Mothers for the critical role they continue to play especially in the area of advocacy to help bring change and development in their respective communities. He said this when he had an interactive session with the Queens at their quarterly meeting held at Dzolokpuita.
The Hon. DCE discussed support for the Queens to visit schools and assist teachers on Adolescent reproductive health education, illicit drug usage, and campaign against general indiscipline among the youth. He also took the opportunity to explain the reasons why the government was initiating a short IMF program to address some challenges emanating from the global front.
Hon. Apau also revealed the numerous programs he had held with the Queens such as breast cancer screening, motivating the youth into agriculture, apprenticeship and others.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to work with all stakeholders without discrimination whiles answering the many questions posed by members of the Association. He added that working together as a team will help the district to achieve its developmental agenda.
The DCE took the opportunity to announce his intention to recruit a minimum of 20 financiers as patrons who will be financing more of the joint initiatives.
The President of the Association who doubles as the Paramount Queen of Honuta Traditional Area, Mama Megbenya III was very appreciative of the DCE for his continuous engagement with them and support in their various activities.
She said as Queen mothers they have important roles to play in addressing issues such as Teenage Pregnancy, Drug Abuse among others in their communities. She called on all members to remain committed in order to improve the socio-economic development of the district.
