HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS THIRD QUARTER DISTRICT PLANNING AND COORDINATING UNIT (DPCU) MEETING

The Ho West District Assembly held its Third Quarter District Planning and Coordinating Unit Meeting for 2023 on Tuesday 22nd August 2023 at the District Assembly Hall.

The Chairman of the meeting and the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor welcomed members to the meeting and indicated that the meeting is a pivotal platform for effective planning, reviewing, aligning various development efforts and coordination in achieving the district’s development goals. He emphasized the need for all members to play their roles to achieve success.

The District Planning Officer, Mr. Ebenezer Nkrumah led members in the corrections and discussions of matters emanating from the previous minutes. After further deliberations the minutes was adopted as a working document of the Assembly.

The District Planning Officer led the house to review the 2023 Annual Action Plan. This included an assessment of current status of projects, achievements, challenges and alignments with the district’s overall development objectives.

Representatives from the Ghana Highways Authority also engaged the DPCU and briefed members on the Eastern Corridor Road Development Program-Phase One (ECRDP-1) were some social infrastructure projects such as rehabilitation of Basic Schools, CHPs Compound, construction of new CHPs Compound, Public Toilet and community level Agro-
Processing Facility and expected to be implemented.

According to them, two communities in the Ho West District namely; Abutia Novisi and Tedeafenu have been selected to benefit from the Program.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau expressed his appreciation for the interventions and assured them of the Assembly’s support to ensure a successful execution of the project.

Heads of Departments/Units/Agencies also presented progress reports on their activities during the second quarter of 2023. The meeting was attended by NADMO, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Social Welfare and Community Development, Ghana Health Service, Statistics, Information Services Department, Center for National Culture, Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, Complementary Education Agency (CEA), Physical Planning, Works Department, Internal Audit, Chairman for Development Planning Sub-Committee, Budget Unit, Human Resource Department, Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), National Identification Authority (NIA), Department of Agriculture, Procurement Unit and Finance Department.

The District Planning Officer, Mr. Ebenezer Nkrumah updated members on the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) Performance Contract (PC) and Administrative Data Rankings of MMDAs. He highlighted Ho West District Assembly was ranked 10th in the Performance Contract among 261 districts and 3rd in the Volta Region. Additionally, the district secured top spot in the collection of Administrative data nationally. He also urged Departments /Units/Agencies to provide data on their activities in their Quarterly/Annual Progress Reports and adhere to timely submission of the Reports for harmonization and to keep track of the district performance for future decision-making.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor expressed gratitude for members contributions and encouraged them to continue working collaboratively towards the district’s common goals.
