Head, Statistic Department

Linda Abaye is a self-motivated team player with sharp taste for excellence and professionalism the head of the Statistical Department of Ho West District Assembly.

Ms. Linda Abaye is a seasoned Statistician with a Master’s degree in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. With her diverse educational background, including a first degree in Bachelors of Arts (B.A) Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, she brings a unique blend of technical expertise and understanding of human behavior to her role. She also holds Teachers Certificate “A” from University College of Education, Jasikan, and Certificate in Data Science at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, Accra, and Certificate in Data Management and Statistical Analysis using STATA software by University of Cape Coast/ Local Government Services.

She has attended a number of career development trainings and seminars. She has a number of certificates of participation including, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Local Economic Development from the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), Public Financial Management (PFM) by Ministry of Finance, Coastal Adaptation in Climate Change and Vulnerability Assessment  by USAID & University of Cape Coast, promote Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture in MMDAs in Ghana by Institute of Local Government Studies, Business Development  Services by Management  Development and Productivity Institute Accra, She is also a Member of Local Government Service Statisticians and  Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum (GMEF).

It is the vision of Statistics Department to ensure that avenues are made for realistic time-bound official data to be easily available for the District as well as enforcing policy making-decisions to be solely based on available data.

Mission Statement: To harness, produce and manage quality local levels statistics based on National standards using competent staff for evidence-based decision making in support of local and National development.

Vision: The vision of the Department is to provide reliable and responsive statistical services for good governance and development.

Objectives:

  • Enhance the use of statistics for evidence-based decision making
  • Harmonize concepts, methods, and classification used in the production of statistics at all levels.
  • Assist the MMDA to mobilize revenue for development
  • Systematize the collation of administrative data across sectors and geographical units.
  • Reinforce the coordination of statistics generation, compilation, analysis, storage, archiving and dissemination across departments within the MMDA
  • Strengthen capacity of statistical staff at the MMDA level
  • Engender statistical literacy among stakeholders
